(“Conditions”)

​

These Conditions (including our Privacy Policy and any other documents referred to in these Conditions set out all of the terms and conditions upon which You may access the https://www.greatescapecamperhire.com/ website and/or our services.

About Great Escape Camper Hire

​

We are Great Escape Camper Hire Limited.

We are registered in Ireland under company registration number 685002 and with our registered office address at Killaturley, Swinford, Co Mayo, F12T922, Ireland.

​

Understanding these Conditions

​

When we refer to "We", "Us" or "Our", we mean Great Escape Camper Hire Limited. Where we refer to "You" or "Your" we mean You, the person hiring a vehicle from Us.

​

Clause headings are inserted for convenience only and shall not affect the construction or interpretation of these Conditions. References to clauses are to clauses in these Conditions. Any reference to any statute or statutory provision will (unless the context otherwise requires) be construed as a reference to that statutory provision as may be amended, consolidated, modified, extended, re-enacted or replaced from time to time.

Opening Hours

​

Office hours are 9am to 8pm, Monday - Sunday

​

​Booking/Reservation

​

A booking deposit of 20% of the full fee or €200, whichever is greater, is required to secure Your selected booking dates for all bookings more that 30 days in advance. 

​

For bookings less than 30 days in advance, 100% fee is required to secure booking.

​

Payments for deposits can be made by bank transfer.

​

Bookings are only deemed confirmed once in writing by Us and once the Booking Deposit has been paid and all required documentation has been returned.

​

Booking fees quoted and confirmed are based on the vehicle being picked up and dropped off at Our base in Killaturley, Co Mayo.

​

​Payment of Balance

​

The remaining 80% of the full booking fee is payable 30 days prior to vehicle pickup.

​

If a booking is made for pickup in less that 30 days from date of booking then 100% of full booking fee is payable at the time of booking to secure the required dates.

​

​Currency

​

All payments made to Us will be made in Euros.

​

​Deposit

​

A security deposit of €2,000 will be taken against a credit or debit card on collection of the vehicle - please ensure that there are sufficient funds on Your card for this deposit to be taken. 

​

Assuming the vehicle is returned in a clean and acceptable condition with a full tank of diesel and the toilet cassette emptied, then the full deposit will be returned. Please allow 5 working days for the refund to clear into Your account.

​

You agree to pay for any additional costs over and above the security deposit amount should any chargeable damage be in excess of the value of the security deposit.

​

​Cancellation

​

If You need to cancel Your booking with Us, the following charges apply:

​

  • More than 40 days prior to pickup date - 20% booking deposit is retained by Us

  • ​

  • Between 40 and 14 days to pickup date - 50% of the rental fee will be due and payable to Us.

  • ​

  • Less than 14 days / no show - 100% of the rental fee will be due and payable to Us.

 

We recommend that You take out Your own travel insurance policy to cover such costs.

​

​Minimum Hire Period

​

Minimum hire period low and mid season - 3 days.

​

Minimum hire period high season - 7 days.

​

​Pickup and Return Location and Times

​

You may pickup Your vehicle anytime between 3pm and 7pm from Our depot in Swinford, County Mayo.

​

Please allow 1 hour at pickup to complete documentation and for a full tour of the vehicle where We will demonstrate all the driving and operational aspects of the vehicle. Please note this demonstration is mandatory and the vehicle cannot be released until this has been completed. 

​

The vehicle must be returned by 11am to the depot in Swinford, Co Mayo, to allow proper cleaning and preparation for the next booking. Unless prior agreement is made, late return will be charged at €50 per hour, up to a maximum of a full days rental.

​

Any delays in returning the vehicle beyond the return date will be charged at a full days rental per day.

​

Pickup and return times may be possible outside of these hours in some circumstances, but must be agreed in writing in advance.

​

Pickup and return may also be arranged in advance at other locations such as Dublin Airport, Shannon Airport etc. These will incur an additional fee which will also be confirmed in advance. This service may not be possible during busy periods.

​

A ‘One Way’ service may also be available with an additional charge. Availability and fees to be confirmed at time of booking. This service may not be possible during busy periods.

​

In the event that the vehicle is returned early for any reason, We are not liable for any refund or replacement vehicle.

​

​Car Parking

​

We provide facilities for free parking at our Swinford depot for one vehicle per hire. Please note that all vehicles are parked at Your / owners risk and We cannot be held responsible for theft, damage or loss to Your vehicle.

​

Drivers and License Requirements

​

The named driver must be between 25 and 70 years of age with a full, non-endorsed driving licence in ROI or UK. 

License must have been held for a minimum of 5 years.

​

After 1st January 2021, all UK drivers must also have an International Drivers Permit to be shown alongside the driving licence at the time of pickup.

​

A maximum of one additional driver may be added with additional fees applying. This can be confirmed at time of booking.

​

All license holders must hold the appropriate category of full license for the vehicle being hired.

​

All our vehicles are 3,500kg or less, meaning they can be driven on a standard ROI/UK Category B licence.

All drivers must be present at the time of pickup.

​

All drivers are liable for parking tickets, speeding fines and any other legal penalties incurred during the rental period.

​

​Documentation

​

Original copies of license/permit will need to be shown and copies taken at the time of pickup.

​

For residents in ROI or UK an original proof of address in the form of a recent (3 months) utility bill or bank statement is required.

​

For residents outside ROI or UK a valid passport is also required as proof of ID.

​

The vehicle cannot be released until these have been presented and in the case of the correct documentation not being available at the time of pickup, We will not be liable for refunds based on the vehicle rental delay or cancellation.

​

​Passengers

​

No more than the authorised number of passengers per vehicle is allowed, and all passengers must use the safety restraints provided whilst the vehicle is in motion.

​

Children should use child seats/booster seats in accordance with law.

​

​Mileage

​

There is no limit on mileage during the rental period.

​

​Travel Restrictions

​

Travel outside of the Republic of Ireland and the UK is possible but arrangements must be made at the time of booking as additional charges will apply to cover insurance and roadside cover.

​

The vehicle should not be driven on surfaces not designed for motor vehicles.

​

It is not possible to drive the vehicle through Conors Pass in County Kerry.

​

You confirm that during the rental period the vehicle You will not drive the vehicle or allow anyone else to drive the vehicle whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs or with a blood alcohol level in excess of that permitted by law.

​

Fuel

​

The vehicle is supplied with a full tank of fuel, and must be returned with a full tank of fuel. Any fuel top ups required after dropoff will be taken from the security deposit.

​

​Insurance

​

A €1,000 Accidental Damage Excess applies for all ROI/UK claims.

​

A €2,000 Accidental Damage Excess applies id an accident occurs outside ROI/UK in another European Country.

​

Any rental quotes given by Us are based on a driver aged between 25 and 70 with a full, clean licence held for a minimum of 5 years.

​

You are responsible for making sure that the vehicle is locked at all times that is unattended.

​

Insurance does not cover the theft of a vehicle left unattended with keys in the ignition or left nearby, and as such You are responsible for the cost of a replacement vehicle.

​

Insurance does not cover the following and must be covered by You in the event of any occurrence:

​

  • Tyre puncture or damage.

​

  • Lost keys and/or replacement locks.

​

  • Damage to window and roof seals.

​

  • Damage or staining of interior upholstery.

​

  • Loss, damage or theft of the radio or TV.

​

  • Personal effects stolen from within the vehicle.

​

  • Damage caused by towing the vehicle from mud or sand etc.

​

​Roadside Cover

​

The vehicle is fully covered for roadside assistance and details will be provided when You pick up the vehicle.

​

​Pets

​

Pets are not allowed within the vehicle.

​

​Smoking

​

Smoking is not permitted in the vehicle under any circumstances and may result in the loss of the full deposit.

​

​Fines, Parking Tickets and Penalties

​

You are responsible for all legal penalties and fines relating to any traffic violation.

​

​Breakdown

​

In the case of any breakdown please call Us and the 24 Hour roadside assistance service, details of which are provided at pickup.

​

Minor repairs up to the value of €150 will be reimbursed upon presentation of receipts. Any repairs over €150 must be authorised by Us before work is undertaken.

​

If any breakdown results in the loss of use of the vehicle then We will either replace the vehicle with one if possible, or in the case of a replacement vehicle not being available, then We will refund the hire charges for the days without the vehicle.

​

We are not liable for any additional costs incurred due to breakdown including accommodation or replacement vehicle.

​

​Accidents

​

You must notify Us immediately of any accidents.

​

You should follow the standard procedure in any road accident scenario, including taking the details of parties involved, photographs of the scene (if possible) names of driver/s, insurance details and phone numbers etc. and the driver should not admit any responsibility to any third parties at the scene of the incident.

​

​Basic Maintenance

​

You are responsible for the general maintenance of the vehicle during the hire period, including tyre air pressure, oil and coolant levels etc. While these will all have been checked prior to rental release, they are Your responsibility during the rental period and You are liable for any malfunction or breakdown causes by the negligence of basic maintenance.

​

​Tyre punctures are not covered by any insurance and are Your responsibility for repair costs. You are advised to contact the nearest local tyre repair centre or callout tyre repair service should this occur.

​

​Additional Charges

​

You are responsible for all damage not covered by insurance caused by gross negligence, e.g. reversing into objects, damage to the upper part of the vehicle caused by driving under low objects, carries, trees, bridges or overhead signs etc. or any other type of damage to the vehicle caused by gross negligence.

​

​Vehicle Replacement

​

If, due to unforeseen circumstances the chosen vehicle is not available at the time of hire, We reserve the right to replace the vehicle with a vehicle of similar or better specification. This replacement does not constitute a breach of these Conditions.

​

If, for whatever reason, We cannot provide the service as booked our liability is limited to a refund of any monies paid.

​

​Vehicle Systems

​

A full check of all of the onboard habitation and operational systems will be carried out along with a demonstration of these systems at the time of pickup.

​

In the unlikely event that these is a fault with any of the operating systems of the vehicle we will attempt to rectify the problem as soon as possible, but please note that in some circumstances this may not be possible and, in such cases, We will not be held responsible and will not be liable for any refund of any kind in connection to any loss of service.

​

Malfunction of any onboard equipment after the vehicle has departed from the depot will not constitute a reason for cancellation of the rental term and agreement.

​

​Cleaning

​

All Our vehicles are supplied with a battery-operated vacuum cleaner as well as cleaning products and wipes to keep Your vehicle clean throughout Your trip.

​

The vehicle along with cooking equipment, crockery, utensils and any camping equipment such as chairs and tables should all be returned cleaned and in the same condition as when they were collected.

​

A cleaning fee of €100 will be taken from the security deposit if the vehicle is not returned with the interior in a clean and acceptable condition.

​

An additional fee of €100 will also be taken from the security deposit if the toilet cassette is not completely empty and cleaned out on return.

​

You are NOT expected to clean the exterior of the vehicle and it MUST NOT be put through any type of automated carwash or cleaned with a pressure washer of any type. Failure to comply may result in damage to window seals and bodywork and as such You will be solely responsible for the cost of repair.

​

​Ownership

​

The vehicle, its title and all additional equipment remains the property of Us at all times.

​

​COVID-19 Policy

​

If it is not possible for You to complete the booking and pickup the vehicle either due to local Government Covid Travel Restrictions or International Government Covid Travel Restrictions then the booking may be moved to another available time or a full refund issued.

​

Indemnity

​

Without prejudice to any rights or remedies implied by statute or common law or under any provision of these Conditions, You shall indemnify Us and keep Us indemnified in full against any and all losses, liabilities, costs, claims, demands, expenses and fees (including, but without limitation, legal and other professional fees), actions, proceedings, judgments awarded and damages suffered or incurred by Us arising out of or in connection with any and all acts and omissions of You.

​

Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability

​

The following provisions set out Our entire liability to You.

​

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable laws, we disclaim responsibility for any harm resulting from Your use of the vehicle. We expressly disclaim to the fullest extent permitted by law all express, implied and statutory warranties relating to the vehicle. Your use of the vehicle is at your own risk, and You are solely responsible for any damages to the vehicle.

Our total liability to You under these Conditions or any other agreement, shall be limited to the fees paid by You to Us. We will not be liable to You in contract, tort or otherwise for any loss of any kind (including any special, indirect or consequential loss or damage, even if We has been advised of such loss or damage) arising out of or in connection with Your hire of a vehicle from Us.

​

Nothing in these Conditions shall exclude or limit Our liability for any death or any personal injury caused by Our negligence. These provisions with regards to liability shall survive the termination or expiry (for whatever reason) of these Conditions and / or Your agreement with Us.

​

Severability

​

If any of these Conditions are determined by any competent authority to be invalid, unlawful or unenforceable to any extent, such term, condition or provision will to that extent be severed from the remaining Conditions, conditions and provisions which will continue to be valid to the fullest extent permitted by law.

​

Variation of Conditions

​

We may update these Conditions from time to time. By hiring a vehicle from us, You agree to be bound by these Conditions.

​

Entire Agreement

​

These Conditions them constitute the entire agreement between You and Us and supersedes and extinguishes all previous drafts, agreements, arrangements and understandings between You and Us, whether written or oral, relating to its subject matter. 

​

You agree that You shall have no remedies in respect of any representation or warranty (whether made innocently or negligently) that is not set out in these Conditions or any documents expressly referred to in them.

​

Governing Law and Jurisdiction

​

You agree that these Conditions shall be governed by Irish law and that any dispute arising from, or related to these Conditions shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ireland.
